Chalkotheke

This was a construction of a rather simple style, except the monumental Doric portico. In front of the Propylaea, and between Parthenon and Brauronion, the Chalkotheke served to guard Athena’s metal devotional gifts. Its fundaments are still recognisible today. Once, here was also located the temple of Athena Ergane, the goddess of handicraft.
